"I'm a plant nerd through and through," says Whitney Smart. Born and raised in rural Philomath, Oregon, she moved away to attend college, get married, and start a family. After graduation, she worked for a seed company. She loved visiting the farms and getting to "wander through the head-high sunflowers and chat with the farmers." That was the motivation for starting "my own little seed business." She returned to Philomath, bought a small plot of land, and began "planting to my heart's content."
