Some kids seem to have confidence in abundance, but others need a little extra magic to show everyone how awesome they are. In this live virtual experience, teacher Shannon Sadler introduces apprentice magicians to prestidigitation (i.e. performing magic tricks). This class definitely has something up its sleeve—it’s an enchanting way to help little ones build self-esteem and other all-important skills.

  • Kids will learn nearly a dozen tricks, including Exploding Dice, Disappearing Coin, and Hidden Ace, using the Confidence Building Magic Kit (see "Comes with the class, below).
  • Every participant will have a chance to share their awe-inspiring magician’s name (you’ll conjure one up before class) and perform something they've just learned for the group.
  • Created especially for little ones starting pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade, this class promotes essential skills like memorization, mental focus, and fine motor abilities, while instilling the confidence they need to thrive in new situations.
Class length: 60 minutes
Recommended for: Ages 4–6 (accompanied by a parent or guardian, see below for more information).
Comes with the class: The Confidence Building Magic Kit includes eight props that you’ll use in class and a step-by-step illustrated guide to performing more than 20 tricks.


To purchase this Uncommon Experience, you must be at least 18 years old and provide your email address when ordering. If you’re giving this Experience as a gift, your recipient must be the child’s parent or legal guardian (not the child themselves). A parent or legal guardian must be able to attend the live virtual class with their child, using their Zoom account (not an account belonging to the child or their school). Live Experiences for kids are not recorded, and none of the children’s personal information will be collected, used, or disclosed.

To give this Experience as a gift, simply purchase the class for the date/time you think will work for your recipient and their child. If that doesn’t work for them, no worries! Send an email that includes your order confirmation number to [email protected] at least 48 hours prior and we’ll help get them moved into a scheduled class that works better for them. Please note: By default, order confirmations and event details are sent to the purchaser’s email. If you'd like this information to go to your gift recipient instead, select "this is a gift" under your chosen date. Both crafting and teaching come naturally to Shannon Sadler: She grew up in a crafts-loving home in small-town Ohio and was DIY-ing by hand as soon as she was old enough to hold a paintbrush. Some of Shannon's fondest memories involve time spent making things with family and friends, and as a middle-school teacher for seven years, Shannon also loved using creativity and experiments to spark her students' curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

For this class, you'll need the included Confidence Building Magic Kit, a paper cup with a hole in it (demonstrated on page 21 of the kit booklet), a pencil, a quarter or nickel, the spade card from your Trick Card pack, and your favorite stuffie to be your magician's assistant!
