Hey there, Wednesday. ♥️ Brian gave me this beautiful necklace from uncommongoods for Valentine’s Day. He bought it to remind me that even in the tough times, the bonds we have are stronger than the things that try to break us. That goes for not only my bond with him, but with my boys, my friends and most importantly, myself. I am tougher than I give myself credit for. The necklace is really lovely, and as I’ve mentioned, I love wearing things with a specific thought behind them. ♥️ Anyhow, it’s called the We Are One necklace, and it’s got a pretty cool story (not what you’d think, go check it out!) behind it. Tulianna and Alejandra Garces' hand-cast links are organically textured to hint at the beautiful imperfections inherent to any relationship, yet their essence embodies inseparable strength. “A large part of [our] mission is to encourage these artisans to maintain their cultural traditions while also being able to support their families.”

Tulianna Garcés was born in Colombia and raised on three continents speaking four languages. In 1985, when her first daughter, Alejandra, was born, she left the violence in Colombia for Vermont. After teaching art and theater to low-income families for a few years, she started a company to create collaborative relationships with artisans in troubled areas of Southeast Asia and South America. 10 years later, Tulianna, now in partnership with Alejandra, was working with over a dozen communities.
