#sweepstakes Great on-the-go mixer!

#sweepstakes As soon as we got this in the mail, we were using it. You can either use it as a stand-alone device when you're out and about or you can use it as a helpful addition at a lo-tech house party. It's great for explaining the very basics of music mixing to the uninitiated, with a surprising number of options! The tension in the cross-fader is very satisfying, and the brass knobs are beautiful to behold and turn. The only issue I've encountered is that there doesn't appear to be a pre-amp, which means you may need to max out the volume on your phone (or other input devices), the mixer itself, and any system you may be playing it through. Of course, that likely intentional, since the lack of a pre-amp means that the device is super slim and easy to carry in a pocket, jacket, or purse. But the downside is that you won't actually be able to EQ with as much precision as you might like because you need to start with all the features maxed out. Overall, still a great piece of equipment, and I'm still very glad to have picked it up! #sweepstakes

Plan to return this item

My son asked for this for Christmas. It was as simple to use as he thought and had lots of trouble with it. He plans on returning it.

Response from merchant

We're sorry you were disappointed with this mixer, but happy our forever return policy allowed your son to return it. If you have any other questions or concerns, we hope you give us a call at 888-365-0056 or e-mail us at [email protected].

Some instructions would help

This looked like a blast for young people. So I bought it as a graduation gift for my teen nephew who is a techie whiz, and he just looked stumped when he opened the package. There's no photo like you show online and basically no instructions or info about how many other pieces & cords need to be hooked in to create the DJ Mix effect. I may still return this if he doesn't get it working properly.

Response from merchant

Thank you for your helpful feedback. We've emailed you some instructions, and because you alerted us to the need for it, we added a pdf link with the instructions to the Details section of the product description. I hope your nephew is jamming bigtime! Thanks for shopping with UncommonGoods.

Actually excited!

Gave as a gift to my Grandson, who is technology savvy. He also plays guitar and the clarinet (in his high school Honors Band!). This mixer will be loads of fun for him and his friends. He could use it actually without reading the instructions. Once he reads those he'll be a maestro. Thank you for a unique product.

Fun Product!

My husband loves music and he loves to play it wherever he goes. This product is great because it is portable and he can easily take it on the go. Also the quality is really great. He definitely loves this gift!

Cool product!

This was a gift for my 16 yo son. He's really into music. At first, we thought this product wasn't what we thought. We expected something like a DJ system with different beats and sounds you could add to the song. This is mostly just adding bass and treble, loudness and fade type sounds. But once my son played around with it, he loved it. It works best with Dubstep or club type music. You can hook up 2 phones and a speaker or even use it with different DJ apps on the phone. Really have enjoyed it!

Fun

It does require two audio sources for maximum use.

Sound Techy liked this mini "board" Christmas gift

"I like this better than my board. Fun!"

Perfect gift for my grandson

this has provided my grandson with hours of fun...

Novelty fun

Compact and easy to use. Due to limited capability of mixer, it won't hold the user's attention for more than 30 min tops. Great novelty gift for the money!

I can't tell if that central knob controls meter for beat-matching as it is obscured in the pics. Will it match beats? Thanks!

Verified reply from Michael

The POCKET DJ MIXER is not a "controller" but a "mixer". A mixer itself does not change speed. Basically, your "player" must be able to change the speed. Smartphones or i-Pads can change the speed using apps, other computers use DJ software.

The poker dj mixer - Can you hook up one input into a phone and 'Spotify...and the other into a record player, spinning vinyl and cue up. Then mix between ?

Verified reply from Allison

This mixer plugs it into the headphone jack of your MP3-player, mobile phone, laptop, tablet, PC, or personal CD player.

What is minimum age you would suggest for being able to use?

Verified reply from Allison

Kids may need supervision to set it up but we're sure savvy teens will be just fine.

Is it possible to use this product with an Android phone?

Verified reply from Sue

Yes. Our Pocket DJ Mixer is compatible with any device with a headset outlet.

Can you hook this into a receiver for a sound system.

Verified reply from Thomas

Thanks for your question. You can definitely plug this into a sound system. All of the inputs and outputs run off a standard 3.5 mm jack. There are 2 x 3.5 mm inputs for music devices and 1 x 3.5 mm stereo line out for music systems.

Are you able to plug into another output device so you are able to record the mixes you're making?

Verified reply from Paul

Thank you for your question. There is only a single output, that being said if you have a device that has the correct input and is capable of recording there's no reason to think that you wouldn't be able to record.

Does this allow you to cue through headphones while playing the output through speakers for proper beatmixing?

Verified reply from Paul

Thank you for your excellent question. This is indeed possible, that is labeled as the 'Listen' button that you can see in the picture.

Does this come with the headphones?

Verified reply from Marisa

Thanks for your question. No, our Pocket DJ Mixer does not come with headphones. We apologize for not having made that clear.
