Heather Peel, a lifelong Mainer, has been a web and graphic designer her entire career. But to give her eyes a break from computer screens, she looked for a more hands-on hobby. So she bought a laser engraver, then started making wooden cribbage boards with pegs shaped like moose and loons, a tribute to Maine's native fauna. Now Heather designs unique game boards (tested with the help of her daughter) and home goods in her basement studio, then brings them to life in her garage woodshop.
