The good news is you have July 5th off. The bad news is you had too much fun on the 4th and are nursing a serious hangover. The final recipe in our pickle series and the perfect I-had-one-too-many-beers/margaritas/sangrias/etc. cure, the Mean and Bloody is a hot and spicy twist on the classic Bloody Mary and gets its name from the spicy pickled Mean Beans that garnish it.
Let’s get mean!
Rick Field’s Mean & Bloody
Over ice combine
1 oz. Absolut Peppar Vodka (regular vodka works, but Peppar is extra, extra tasty )
3 oz. V8 (regular tomato juice works, but again, V8 is just better)
2 dashes of Worcestershire
½ teaspoon prepared horseradish
2 dashes Tabasco (start with two, but I found that I like a few more)
1 quarter lemon or lime squeezed and dropped into the drink
Generous splash Mean Beans brine
2-3 pickles (link people pickles) and if you want, a spoonful of some of the garlic and spices from the pickle jar
Pepper to taste
Stir and garnish with a few Mean Beans!

I used Rick’s Mean Beans for bloody marys at my wedding. They were great!
