We only announced the YouGoods “Inventors Month” Design Challenge last week, but already, we’ve seen some really clever and sustainable product ideas. And there’s still a few more days to enter. In fact, we’re extending the entry deadline to August 23!

In other exciting YouGoods news… I’m thrilled to introduce two four of our guest judges.
Allan Cochinov is a partner of Core77, a New York-based design network serving a global community of designers and design enthusiasts. He is the editor-in-chief of Core77.com, the widely read design website, Coroflot.com design job and portfolio site, and DesignDirectory.com design firm database. He has been named on numerous design and utility patents, and has received awards from Communication Arts, The Art Directors Club, I.D. Magazine, and The One Club. He teaches in the graduate departments of Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and serves on the boards of the Designers Accord and Design Ignites Change.
Graham Hill is the Founder of Treehugger.com and VP Interactive at Discovery’s Planet Green. A serial Designpreneur, Graham has built, run and sold a number of companies including web shop SiteWerks, product company WeAreHappyToServeYou.com and TreeHugger.com which is now part of Discovery. He studied Architecture and Product Design and schemes daily about how he can help humanity avoid rapid extinction. Plus he’s always tweeting the latest green ideas. Debera Johnson has been a catalyst for change at Pratt Institute for over 20 years and an advocate for collaboration throughout her lifetime. She is currently the Academic Director of Sustainability at Pratt Institute and is leading Pratt’s commitment to integrate sustainability through its academic programs. Deb is the executive director of Pratt’s new Center for Sustainable Design Studies and Research, the founder and director of the Pratt Design Incubator for Sustainable Innovation which supports start-up sustainable/social enterprises and engages the Pratt alumni, faculty and student network in consultancy projects that focus on sustainable innovation for industry and the non-profit sector.
Becky Stern is an artist, tutorial maker, and Associate Editor for CRAFT and Make: Online. She has a background in design & technology from Parsons the New School School for Design and enjoys sharing the joy of making through project documentation and handmade goods. Some of her favorite creative disciplines are sculpture, video, electronics, sewing, knitting, and cooking, sometimes all at once. She hosts CRAFT’s bi-weekly tutorial video podcast covering topics from metalsmithing to homebrewing, machine knitting to electronic embroidery, and everywhere in between.
